Social Studies and Music Residency

PCC Graduate To Complete Gifted Education Residency

Ron Howard

Ron Howard will be returning to the Perry County School system to complete a Music and Social Studies residency at both high schools beginning October 31st and ending on November 22nd.  Although known locally for his vast talents and his rich heritage of music, Ron Howard is also a graduate of Alice Lloyd College where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in History/Pre-Law.

After graduating from Alice Lloyd College, Mr. Howard began a career in politics by accepting a position on a very well known campaign that spanned both local and national levels.  During his time on that campaign team, he earned the respect of many state and national officials, and had several opportunities to attend elite political functions among these dignitaries.  Although Howard had the opportunity to continue this career, he chose to accept a position in public policy that would allow him to stay closer to home, and fight for the rights of families.

Mr. Howard became a public policy analyst for southeastern Kentucky, where he traveled between counties speaking at public events and church gatherings.  Here he listened to the concerns of the people, and then took those concerns to Frankfort where he met with senators and state representatives.  As Ron continued his work in public policy, he married his musical college sweetheart, Kinsee Petree.  Mr. Howard accepted a position in South Carolina in July 2016, where he and his wife Kinsee now reside.

During his residency Mr. Howard will be speaking with Gifted Music students about finding ones own voice, and the importance of originality in performance.  Ron Howard will be performing vocal and instrumental numbers, sharing real-life musical experiences, and serve as a critic for students desiring to audition for Gifted Music.  During the Social Studies segment of his residency, he will be walking students through the election process, and give them an inside look at what happens behind-the-scenes in elections.  He will also discuss careers in History and Political Science, and answer student questions on various political/historical topics.

Pictures from the upcoming residency will be posted soon.
