While camp will be in a virtual format, we’ve ensured the same unique learning environment that provides high-ability learners who have finished grades 6-8 the chance to explore new ideas, develop concepts, make friends, and share experiences. SCATS provides a diverse curriculum in a wide range of enrichment experiences. Teachers are drawn from the WKU faculty, outstanding area teachers, and students in the WKU graduate program in gifted studies. They structure their courses around students’ interests and understand how to go beyond the limitations of the traditional classroom to allow students to learn at higher levels and to think and create in their own ways. Tuition for the two-week online SCATS (June 8 – 19) is $600. Campers will take two classes. The morning class will be 10:30 – 12:00 (Central Daylight Time) and the afternoon class will be 1:00 – 2:30 (CDT). June 21 - July 11, 2020 wku.edu/gifted/vampyonline VAMPY is going online! While camp will be in a virtual format, we’ve ensured the same rigorous academic environment that challenges high-ability learners that have finished grades 7-10. Classes will be taught by outstanding WKU faculty and area high school teachers who are thrilled to have equally outstanding students. We know how important community and traditions are to the VAMPY experience, and the online format will have evening activities to promote friendships between gifted learners while keeping beloved camp traditions alive. We are offering 11 fun and engaging classes: Arabic, Astronomy, DNA and Genetics, Humanities, Mathematics, Nazi Germany and the Holocaust, Physics, Pop Culture, Presidential Politics, Problems You’ve Never Solved Before, and Writing. Tuition for the three-week online VAMPY (June 21 - July 11) is $1,000. Class sessions will be on weekdays 9:30 - 2:30 (Central Daylight Time) with an hour for lunch.
